Hi there just my 2 cents worth on the coffee subject.

when we arrived in Negril in Jan. price was 1400 jas for 1/2 lb. of Blue Mountain at the Hi Low. in Feb it went to 2,070 per 1/2 lb. A lb. of BM coffee goes for about 45.00 US. so we went looking pon de road and found out about Thunder's coffee, he brew's his own brand and comes very close to BM cost for a lb. is $20.00 US. Thunder is located across street from Rooms Resort near Miss Sonia's patties, around in the back. Ask for Thunder or Barbra.... great tasting coffee !!

    Always irie Andy

I'm a fan of Thunder's coffee @20 a pound. Even better at $28 for 8oz or $56 a pound (expensive but just way better) is The primo stuff from Old Tavern Coffee Estate. Amazon link http://www.amazon.com/Coffee-Proprie.../dp/B004VYJMFA

That coffee you linked doesn't have the "seal", which all certified Blue Mountain coffee has. Not saying it isn't legit, but there are only 4-5 processors that are certified JBM, and I don't see any of their trademarks, or the seal.

If my memory is correct and if Mrs Twyan is not a bull$hitter, they were the first company that won their independence (so to speak) and could grow, roast and sell. Before that they could only sell to the gov who blends everything. If you are a coffee person a tour of the farm and learning about their history and the history of coffee in JA in enlightening.

Interesting, I'll check them out. Blue Mtn coffee really isn't even close to my favorite coffee (it's in the top five though), so I rarely splurge on it myself.

their website states that they do

This is a special promotion for our finest JBM from the highly regarded Wallenford Estate. 100% of this coffee will be exlusively from the Wallenford Estate.

This is for 4 x 1lb Fresh Packs. Sealed immediately after roasting in the finest packaging with a one way degassing valve and a seal of authenticity. Keep some as from yourself and give some away as a gift.

This is "The real McCoy". Masterly roasted in small batches as it's ordered to ensure optimum freshness. The roasting profile is a "City Roast". This is a deep shade of brown and the optimal roast for an origin coffee. This is not considered a dark roast. You taste the full origin qualities and characteristics of the coffee and not the roast itself.

I bought some Blue Mountain on ebay last year, not sure which vendor it was from. It was reasonably priced, but it wasn't great, I think it was stale.

Costco in my area has sold Jamaican coffee blends for years but lately has not had any. I asked why and they said the last Jamaican coffee crop was the smallest in years because of mold, drought and other factors. I did a search and a Gleaner story popped up saying the same thing. So, it may be in short supply or more expensive.
