Hello Board, this is my first post... I'm headed for a week in Negril next week. I'd like to hire a private driver for the day (going to use one recommended by this site) to do a day of site seeing. I'd like to visit Mayfield Falls and Blue Hole. I have know idea how long it takes to get to these places... is there any other sites to see along the way ??? any other places to combine with this day trip ??? Thanks for reading. Joey

we did a south coast tour..YS falls, Appleton distillery, Black river tour..it included a nice lunch. It was an all day affair though.

Visiting Mayfield Falls and Blue Hole is going to take pretty much a whole day. There is nothing else around unless you want to go through Savanna La Mar town coming back from MayField.

Joey, one thing you will learn is that everyone has a favorite driver and thinks that he/she is the best driver in all Jamaica. What one person experiences with a driver may be totally different that what another person experiences. First, make sure that the driver has a Red Plate and is insured to carry passengers. Have your prospective driver help you design a trip to do exactly what you want and then get a quoted price. If you feel comfortable with that price and how you and your new driver interacted, schedule the trip. It is okay to shop a little on a price so don't be afraid to do that but the most important person to please is you.
Personally, I have a lot of favorite drivers all around Jamaica. People that have treated me honestly and fairly and did what I wanted and not what they wanted. Three decades of travel to Jamaica makes for a lot of good friends.
Have a great trip and remember, be sure to contact your driver if your plans change. Money is tight in Jamaica and your payment may be what he or she is counting on to pay their bills.
Too many people get "sand gravity" and decide not to use the driver they hired for a tour.
There are a lot of good, safe and culturally aware drivers looking for work. Have a great trip!

oh wanted to mention ..that it included the admission too...not just the driver. We first went to the Black river, then had lunch provided at the Black river. We then went to YS falls. They have a zipline there but it was extra..after YS then we went to the Appleton Distillery. It was a lot of fun..last year we wanted to do the ATV tour's, Mayfield falls, but the other couple we were with didn't want to do any of it. so we just stayed on the beach..
