$500 a week high season on the beach road? They were first timers to Negril and wanted to be in the midst of the tourist area, no car, knowledge of taxi system or the area. Not the best deal around for sure for repeaters, long-term retirees, but good for them.

last yr we stayed 64 days at a private 4 unit villa up Westland Mtn. Rd. (rd. near Canoe Bar). for $1000 per month. This yr we stayed At Westender Inn For 84 days in one of there modern cabins for $1200 pm. We have a car tho so the way out location did not matter to us. ($40 per night) We will be staying next yr at same place for $60-$50 per night $ went up a bit. I know ppl that rent for $500 per month but I can't go that rustic.

    Original,

Since 1984, I've never been able to afford the time and $$$'s that would allow me to stay more than two weeks. Then I joined my wife as a retiree a year ago. We checked around and found a studio apt the was perfect for our 6 week stay. We missed the coldest February on record! You're gonna love it --Marblehead
We're all in this together and none of us is getting out alive.

I spend the same amount to buy supplies food, booze, gas for car ,cooking gas, electric etc on Zion Hill as I do to live at my other home in St. Augustine. Still buying food, booze, gas for car.....blah bla

Maintaining a household is same same. Except in Jamaica I have staff.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I started in my 20's staying with the Mosley family in red ground as a single guyeventually split the trip red ground and the beach and last 15 years or so Ben cliff and beach, idle awhile, nirvana, Catcha, the castle. Point is I have spoiled my wife (ok and myself). I have a feeling we will go back to red ground and the beach split trips

I did find a couple places in red ground for $400 for a month. Now if I just can convince my wife we are in our 20's again.
    Thanks for all the suggestions

Factor in transportation costs, electric, cooking gas, auto rental, auto gas, laundry, housekeeping, etc............... I would hunt around for deals at hotels you like to stay at for long term deals. Maybe contact Negril One Stop. Many times they gave us heads up on upcoming deals at our favorite places. Or try small local owned places like the Donaldson's Inn on the beach.

Most of the items mentioned I have covered. Rent a scooter , eat breakfast with the family . They do the wash .
My biggest expense other than the rent is handing out the daily allowance to the family and friends I meet walking or riding down the hill
