Negril Emergency Medical Services needs supplies

I’d like to introduce myself to those who don’t already know me. I am a retired nurse who previously was Director of Friends of Jamaica USA, a US charity that supported many projects in Jamaica until 2007. I recently agreed to partner with Gail Jackson, owner of Tree House Resort in Negril, to help procure supplies for the Negril Emergency Medical Services (EMS). If you don’t know Gail, she is a hard-working Hotel owner who tirelessly works to improve her community and assist those in need.

How can you help? Here is a list of items needed.

Bulk gauze
Trauma dressing
Gloves (Large or XL)
Sphygmomanometer ( for checking Blood Pressure) and Stethoscope
Portable suction machine
Surgical blade
Betadine solution
Medical scissors
Tape
Obstetric kit
Thermometer
Pupil gauge
Triangular bandage

These items are in very short supply or depleted right now. Any donations will help improve the quality of services provided by Negril’s EMS.

If you have access to any of these items, please consider bringing them to Gail at the Tree House Resort when you visit. Items beyond their expiration date are OK as long as the packaging is intact and not soiled.

If you have access to more supplies than you can carry in your luggage, contact me and I can help get the supplies to Negril.
