True, but at home it isn't socially accepted as it widely is in JA.

Horribly sad but true...the cruelty is everywhere.
We still see an incredible amount of puppy mills and dog/cock/bull fighting etc that's accepted around the world...we see heartbreaking commercials asking for donations for medical care and/or to raise awareness from North America....

It can be difficult to see animals running around in Jamaica without the care and understanding that a country with more resource is able to offer.
There is still a big fear here of being torn apart by packs of dogs and as I was typing this had to run out of the house to break up a stray pack of dogs scaring a child.
We are taught to care/feed our children/family first and once our families are fed will help provide for those including animals that are lacking in resources.

In the short amount of years that I've lived here I've seen a lot of change (of course Rob's seen even more in his 25 years)...there are many more households that now treat their animals as wonderfully spoiled pets...with the teachings and care from the vets and people like Tammy from Montego Bay Animal Haven, free spay/neuter clinics from foreign that have helped and kind hearted people like Brian and Sandra, Jamaicans like everyone are learning how to care...

Our dogs on Zion Hill. Soon to have puppies.

The brown female ("Zion")lived her first 3 years with a chain around her neck living under a piece of zinc and hardly being fed. The previous owner thought that she might eat fowl. To his credit he didn't just kill her.

She's a happy dog now and so is her boyfriend "not yet" we've had since a puppy:

    Cap

Not yet was a pretty chill little dog when we came by, and the name cracked me up.

Here is a video from The Montego Bay Animal Haven featuring Friendly Fred after his surgery! Pawtastic! I can't wait until we bring him to Canada.

Thanks to everyone for your support in our youcaring fundraiser.

Here is a great new video of Magic Mike and Friendly Fred that Tammy at The Montego Bay Animal Haven just shot for us all to see. She cares for over a hundred dogs and feeds the strays in hopes that one day they will trust her enough to go with her. This woman does amazing work. Her dedication and the others like her is inspiring. Any donation would greatly help in bringing these two wonderful dogs to Canada. Also sharing the link on your FB pages would be appreciated.
