The mountains quite literally drop into the sea. It's very majestic, and honestly they were calling me. I am very interested in camping and hiking to blue mountain peak.

A much different vibe. There are still people selling stuff, but they are more inclined to take "no" for an answer. They also seem to care quite a bit about keeping the beaches and the road sides clean. I get the impression that many of the Jamaicans you meet in Portland, call the area home and always have. Whereas, in Negril, people have come from all over the island, to try and get a piece of the tourist dollar.

Overall, I would still pick Negril. I just prefer the social aspect. The faster pace (be it much slower than I am used to here). I like the ability to walk wherever. In PA, a car or a reliable drive is an absolute must.

I will be back to PA. Next spring, I want to rent a car from mobay. Stay in Ochi for 2 days. over night hike to blue mt peak. Then portland for a day or 2. Then Kingston for a couple days. then Negril for a week... or something like that.
thanks for your input. that's how i see it too. love, love portland, but everything else is in negril!! the beauty of blue mountains literally takes your breath away. . . .

I guess I better finish this up, since I am going back to Negril in 2 weeks.

Last full day? I think it might be.

We had a pretty great day. The mission was was to meet the crew up up at Red Dragon around 2. On the way, we met A and A. A very nice couple from Florida by way of Wisconsin. They spend about half the year in Negril now. We stopped at Sunnyside, Tony's hut, Bourbon beach - then caught a cab up the hill. We had a very fun afternoon. Cold beers, lots of laughs, and great pork.

I excused myself to the restroom, and that is where I got a pit in my stomach. We are leaving in less than 24 hours.

I didn't think it was possible, but my love and appreciation for the island, and negril. The last 2 weeks sort of flashed before me. Spending time with my friends and family. Getting married to my best friend. Godwin coming through in the clutch with the pants. Rob and Lisa going out of their way to make sure everything was perfect for the wedding and the webcast. Driving and getting lost in Islington. Exploring beautiful Portland. Dunns River all to ourselves. Meeting new friends from Texas. It really was unforgettable. The pit in my stomach came with an ear to ear grin.

    Back to the bar.

We spent a few more hours and decided to grab some dinner. Winners Sports bar. AC inside. Slot Machines. AWESOME fried chicken. Rob introduced us to the place. Will return.

After we went to no limit, Godwin and Tina (Who manages Home Sweet Home) joined us. He told the pants story again. We had lots of laughs. We checked the time, it ended up being around 10. We decided to call it a night, since we had to ride to the airport early int he AM.
