Airport Driver's info wanted.

No I do not want info on a good driver ............. been using the same guy for over 15 years, maybe 20, and very satisfied.

I am looking for input from the multitude of drivers and transport companies who post here on places, banks, cambios, local stores, etc...... to stop and exchange US $$$$ into J $$$$. Need to be in safe locations and with competitive rates and easy to stop at on the ride to Negril.

This is a constant headache (and costly one) for newbies coming to Negril for the first time.

We always manage to find a place to stop and change over $500US or so. Gets us through the first 4 to 6 days without the hassle of going Downtown.

Come you guys ............ enlighten us please.

Here's what works for me and Linston.

I have a Schwab checking account. They refund all ATM fees. An ATM card can be used a bunch of places.

One of my favorites is the Petcom station at the aerodrome. Mostly no one there.

Last week I was getting 115.70 with the fees refunded.

We use FX Trader on the hip strip for exchange. Digicel is just a few doors down. Then a stop at Mega Mart for sundry's.

We like to use the cambio at Boardwalk Village. There's usually no line. It's behind their gate so no is one around to hassle you when you come\go. They have an ATM there as well. Exchange rates seemed consistent with other cambios.

I'm not an airport driver... ...but if you shop at Mega Mart before coming to Negril...use your large US currency to pay as they have a better exchange than any cambio or bank. At the moment they are giving 116j for $1us...the best cambio is currently giving 113.6j for $1us.

I like to stop at Mega Mart on the way. However, if I don't get back as much in JA currency as I wanted, do they have the ability to exchange more US currency?
