I hope the new owners let Merlyn continue to run her fruit stand at the edge of the property. She's been a fixture and I'd hate to see her displaced or hassled. She works hard, has many tourist friends and provides a fine service. Can't beat her OJ!

Booger and Doc. I was needlessly snarky and pretentious in my post. I knew it as soon as I posted. I apologize profoundly. There is no place on this board for rudeness.
However, I stand by my point. I was trying to say (badly, it would seem) that the meaning of "homely" in Jamaica is the same as the meaning of "homey" in the USA and Canada.
