From my understanding (and I was a CO in a prison that used such dogs) K9's are trained to go after the scent of RAW, unsmoked marijuana. They could care less about "residue" on you from smoking previously. While a forgotten spliff in your shirt pocket is certainly not a good thing, I've been around drug dogs numerous times after having smoked within a short period of time, and never been given any attention whatsoever. I'm not the least bit concerned about getting pulled aside because I smell like ganja smoke coming from Jamaica, but you can be rest assured every piece of luggage and every belonging is gone over with a fine tooth comb to be sure not so much as a stray stem or seed rides to the airport with me. YMMV

Funny story (kinda)I knew a guy who kept a brass 1 hitter in a somewhat secret compartment in his shaving kit, now this "guy" forgot that used brass 1 hitter was in there! That shaving kit probably traveled back and forth the jamaica 5 or 6 times,! This "guy" saw several dogs on his return to the states but passed through with " no problem mon"'the brass 1 hitter will not be doing any more traveling,so I've heard, yuk yuk

That reminds me of time I had to fly for business, which I don't like doing because I can't can't "carry" and don't like to deal with strangers on the street. So I went a week without....no biggie. Come home and Beth Ann did my laundry and there was bud all over all of the clothes. Turns out I flew with about a 1/4 oz I didn't know about in the suite case laundry bag from our last road trip....oooops!

I can't wait for the day when I can declare MJ from the island just as I do the white rum today.

Customers make their own decisions about what a product is worth to them. Stop and smell the roses; take time when choosing a merchant you would like to do business with. The roadside rush is rarely a smart purchase.

Glad I'm in Michigan. I could never bring myself to pay those prices. And I'm picky.

Before I retired I did not smoke for 26 years. That contributed to me deciding not return in those years.

I saw two Dutch couples slammed against the jetway wall in Atlanta after the dogs alerted. It seems that they had been camping in Jamaica and had not laundered their clothing. The dogs did alert to the smoke residue. Many might not know that after the passengers are all off the aircraft, he dogs are brought on to sniff the seats. Some people hide their stash in their crotch. The ganja smell gets on the seat which alerts the dogs. The customs officers check the passenger seating chart and intercept the suspects before they reach immigration. If you are carrying, perhaps you might want to switch seats with a stranger! Now we know why there is such a long walk to the immigration area. I was personally involved in both of these incidents. What you buy in Jamaica, stays in Jamaica!

Ganj is not a tourist attraction at this time

It will be soon I think. Then you'll see a lot of advertising to tourists.

Ganj included with your room, Ganj shops, Ganj tours....

    Soon but not now.

Never seen dogs going thru the cabins on a regular basis. More often in the holds and baggage carts after unloading. The quantities that they are concerned about wouldn't fit down your pants. Individual amateur smugglers are usually found out by customs agents interview and facial tell tales. Interesting that some of the dogs used are looking for agricultural products of another kind that could affect American farming. Don't try to hide a sausage fruit or cheeses. Some dogs are trained to smell currency. Most dogs when sensing their particular product will simply sit beside you. He ain't being friendly.
