cclp (No Problem ) They ask for copy of credit card when you arrive. I like to take $ and change at cambio, credit card for emergency, (have had to move Hotel,s in the past) Also always stay at place with room safe. Ja $ way to go for all small transaction,s. Agree with Captain Oil (more money / less clothes ) But alway,s have lot,s and lot,s of FUN !!! No Worries..

Thanks to all who responded. I think our decision is made. Will carry some cash and also traveler's checks. Will carry my capital one for a "just in case" (no fees) but try not to use it. Will leave the ATM card at home. I always call the credit card company before leaving the country. I know we will have a wonderful time in Negril. Previous 9 trips were wonderful. Very excited to be leaving the all inclusive behind. Already know we will love CCLP because we checked out the rooms when we were in Negril in April. Been going to Couples Negril since 2006 twice a year except in 2010 took a trip to a remote island in Mexico (big mistake) and ran right back to Negril. One last question for now: is there a cambio near CCLP that we can walk to? As the time gets closer I am sure I will have more questions but reading this mb religiously every day has answered most of them. Thanks again everybody. Appreciate all your responses.

Probably the closest cambio is the one in front of bourbon beach (across from times square). I use that one the most while staying on the beach. It is walkable from cclp but not what I would call close by. Not bad though... take a mid morning walk down the beach, cut through bourbon beach, use the cambio and then take a taxi back.

Sam-on the negril map it looks like Bourbon Beach is about 1.5 km from CCLP (about 2 miles r/t). Are you saying take a taxi back because we will be carrying cash or would it be ok to walk the beach both ways?

My suggestion is to not make a trip out of a Cambio stop. What I would do would be to plan in advance when I needed to get a "charge" of money [i.e. go to a Cambio] and work that stop into a restaurant stop or a HiLo Market stop etc. Any driver will stop and wait for you to go into a Cambio before taking you to your real destination.

That way you are not out walking the streets or the beach with an excessive amount of money. In fact, I would go into the taxi without money knowing I was picking some up at the Cambio (if you go the Traveler Check route as you previously stated).

    Peace and Guidance.

I have to agree with this except that if you want to go to the HiLo then use their Cambio. It's right inside the doors as you walk in and their rate is usually better than the others. Remember to take your passport (no matter which Cambio you use) though since they need ID and it's the best one.

If cashing TC you may need an ID drivers lisc is best, dont want to walk around with your passport, also carry foot wear, most feet cant walk through the parking lot from Bourban Beach to cambio, as stated before "No signs for this cambio" hrs are something like 10am to 3:30 M-F , Sat ? sun closed
