Sorry...not sure of exactly when it closed...but it's been awhile now...and I saw the owner the other day but didn't ask why he closed it.

Re: Tent camping on the beach?

When I first came to Jamaica I camped all around the island even though the Government's official position was that camping was not an option for entry when you filled out "where you were staying" on the Immigration Card. In those days, you could find tenting facilities all around the island and even on the beach in Negril (Firefly, Roots, Juba, etc. etc.) but I can't really recall seeing any lately.

As other's have said, at least get a cheap board house with a door that attempts to lock before considering putting yourself and all you own into harm's way.

    Just my opinion.

For the price, the fan rooms at Catcha Gardens are hard to beat. Also, some of the rooms at Negril Escape are very affordable. When we stayed there, the Wife was not impressed with the overall maintenance, but the property is very safe, the rooms are secure and the A/C works most of the time. Plus, the cliff access and view is pretty great.

Negril Beach Club Condos. Jean might still have units available as low as $70/night for a hotel unit.

Jojo, I sent them an email to ask about one cabin in particular and never heard anything back? You got an email address you could share?

I'm gonna look at both these options, but I did find a most excellent deal on a basic cabin at Travellers. Got it reserved in case that ends up being my best bet.

THANKS so much for all ya'lls input. I appreciate you!
