So disappointed - Rockhouse is booked - alternate suggestions?

I guess this is the downside of coming across one place that speaks to you stronger than all the others...

Let me tell you what we liked and if you have similar suggestions, we will greatly appreciate it! No one thing is a deal-breaker as I know we will probably have to give up something.

    - The beauty of the location and design of the resort - we are natural, crunchy, hippie-types who like it when man-made things blend well with nature.
    - Being on the cliffs as a contrast to our other 7 days on the beach.
    - Relatively plentiful and simple water access in a decent snorkeling area.
    - Reasonable price for value...I don't know if we would go more than $100/nt for something we love any less than this, but maybe (don't let it hold you back from making a suggestion)
    - Green leanings and community support were a plus as well.

    We are looking for a 3-night stay, 11/4 - 11/7. Thank you!

Look at Xtabi or Catch A Falling Star. They are both very peaceful.

Tensing Pen is also worth a look.

Both a solid option, however with low season pricing I would choose one of the budget rooms at Catcha. You will enjoy the vibe at both places relative to the busy Rockhouse. JMHO of course.......

Might try Hide Awhile it is very nice and cozy, great pool and management. The garden rooms all have kitchens in them and that is nice. Found it to be a REAL Hide a way! I have stayed at the Rockhouse too and it is a great place to stay. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Wonder what ever happened to Clarity and her husband and if they ever get back to Jamaica. Loved her writing and trip reports.

For $100 a night I assume you typically stay in the standard rooms at Rockhouse, off season. There are some good options in this thread that will fit your budget. The economy rooms at Catcha are a great option, but might be smaller than what you are used to. The Garden rooms at Xtabi are in that price range, as well (maybe even lower).

I would also look at Mirage. All rooms are have a water view and you can easily find one for <$100 off season. There is no restaurant or bar on property, but there are plenty of local establishments and markets withing walking distance. Plus, the hotel is owned by a longstanding Jamaican family (same owner as Charela).

They are are both doing well and living the dream. They live in paradise so I would suspect a trip to Jamaica is not in the horizon.
