    Currency in Negril

My husband and I are going to a non-all inclusive for the week, so we can adventure out and enjoy the local restaurants and bars.

Is JAD a preference ? I know US dollars are a definite at the resort/hotel and a few other places as indicated.

When we went to Ocho Rios earlier this year we found out Jamaican dollars was the way to go.

    Thanks!

    I always use J$....
and if you pay in US, expect to get Jamaican money back as your change.

I use Jamaican dollars for nearly everything. I take Canadian dollars and exchange them there. Don't exchange for US$ here unless you are going to need them there. I do take about $400 US for people I know who prefer them and I stay a month.

We use mostly J$ but we bring many US 1's and 5's for tipping, cab rides etc. Sometime small J$ bills can be hard to come by or you can fly through them fast. Plus when your tipping in US$ it puts a few extra J$ in their pocket that we won't miss.

I get my Jamaican currency from ATM machines. Very convenient and good exchange rates.
