    The orange item looks like it could be pumpkin...
    The white item at 12:00 is yam...next to the breadfruit located from 9:30 to 12:00...

    Okay, starting at 12:00 Yam
    toast
    plantain
    wheat flour dumpling
    pumpkin
    johnny cake
    breadfruit
    and of course callaloo and ackee & saltfish in the middle

    For some reason many grocery stores in Canada wrongly call sweet potato "yam". It's as strange as calling a peach an apple. But yam costs $2 to $4 per pound here, sweet potato much less. Unfortunately, (cost wise), I much prefer the yam.

    Yam vines. They grow 20 feet in a year and then the roots are harvested.They are huge. 3x the with of a mans arm and a couple feet long. They are sliced up and boiled. Mildly sweet and a great starch. The picture here is yam vines last August. We will be having a meal of them after Christmas. Can't wait........
