This info may be useful to someone.... With a little bit of setup, you can use a Digicel Prepaid SIM card in recent Verizon Smartphone. 7 days of data only cost me $600 JMD.
Due to a long and very boring story involving the FCC and LTE spectrum purchases by Verizon, all modern Verizon cell phones are actually UNLOCKED. In most parts of the world, they are still useless though, as they use a technology called CDMA, while the rest of the world uses something called GSM.
One notable exception is Digicel in Jamaica. They do have a CDMA network, as well as GSM.
Therefore, you can use a Digicel SIM in a newer Verizon phone pon di rock! Please note that Flow ( formerly LIME) is all GSM so they will not work with a Verizon phone.
I did have to cut the SIM card to fit my phone, and then reconfigure the data APN, but it's working great!
Yes, I do know how much of a geek I am.
