Made a rookie mistake (wrong Route taxi)

I think it was day 3.
    I left the family yaad.
Headed to the short-cut through the football field (soccer)
and came into the back of the taxi park.

GRANGE HILL, BEACH, SAV, LUCEA, ORANGE HILL, SHEFFIELD!!

The taxi guys were shouting out their routes.
I saw a taxi with the front seat un-occupied and I headed for it.
I hopped in a soon the car started to fill up.
We made it out of the park, through the round-a-bout and headed down the beach road towards Orange Bay.
Folks were getting out along the way and soon we were at the all-Inclusive Hotels.
The driver said "where you going?"
    I replied "Orange Bay"

    His head almost exploded.

ORANGE BAY! ORANGE BAY!?????? MI SAID BEACH! BEACH!!

Man, I thought this was a Lucea taxi.
Hey can you let me off where I can pick up a taxi to Orange Bay?
Sure man, but how much will you pay me to keep going.

Now, if he is a beach route guy, he should not deviate off of his route,
but I guess if I was willing to fork over "extra" money he would take me.
I was only willing to give him double the fare.
No mon, you can get out here.
    So I got out.

Soon a taxi, the right one, came by and I hopped in.

Gotta make sure to read the side of the car in the future.

You can charter route taxi's. No problem.....just need to pay the charter rate.....whatever that is.

Re: Made a rookie mistake (wrong Route taxi)

I use to ''fly by the seat of my pants'' with jumping in and out of Route taxis, I take so many.

All that changed with a post a couple years back with a boardie having a traumatic experience.....
so, the rules I go by....

    1) Wave it down, Red plate only.... I have had a couple bad experiences with white plates....redplate a must!!!! Make sure to take a quick look that it's a beach / Negril route.

    2) Has to be driver occupied only. If not, wave it on .

    3) Throw out a fair price,if they don't agree , have them move on, they will quickly change there mind! Example of fair price...Could you drop me from my hotel to say Cosmos, where I begin my beach walk everyday....2 bucks... at night...drop me from my hotel to say Bourbon Beach, three bucks...there more scarce at night and will want a little more. Take me up to the Cliffs, if not real deep, under 10. Everything
    agreed upon before hand.
    4) If they want to stop to pick up someone else while I'm in the vehicle, my ride with them is over...better safe than sorry !

    5) Last but not least...do not wear white...lol...
