An airport pick up...just another day

0900.. V (Visitor) getting to MIA airport, Linston washing car.

0930 Captaind calls Linston and says everything OK with the pick up as per flight stuff

1015 First sign of trouble ...flight delayed

1016 St. Aug ops (SAO) goes to condition yellow...long flight delay

1100 Several emails with V and SAO .. bummer for them.

V sends email apologizing for being late. “no worries”
SAO reassures V that we are tracking and will there when you land and begins tracking the flight with several tools including a feed from MIA (Miami) ground control.
Here’s what I hear from the ground control monitor:
The whole thing is backed up. Christmas going home and Cuba is *****ing about the number of planes in it’s airspace. Any craft going over Cuba will wait for an hour or so.
V’s flight sit out on the tarmac for 2 hrs at which time it start’s to run out of enough gas to get it to Jamaica with proper reserves.

    1245
The plane goes back to the ramp for gas...However...
Now the pilots have been on the plane too long to fly the route so we wait for a different crew!
No contact with V as they are on the plane
SAO is in touch with Linston with any updates

1800 Plane arrives . Liston is waiting

    Consider this:
These are first time Visitors. They’ve been in airline hell for 12 hours.
Club Mobay walks them out to the pick up and there’s Linston

1948: Just talked to Linston. They stopped for diner and “refreshments” and are now checked in at an AI

after a 12 hour day for all of us........LIFE IS GOOD
