Lommis I live in the Midwest also and can tell you the fresh squeezed juice at the deli's and stores in KC don't hold a candle to the vendors and Shamrock, in Negril. The beach guys are lugging 30 to 40lbs of liquid, ice, fruit up and down miles of sand, hand delivering to most tourists hangover/ re-cup stake on the beach?! Factor in the view and ambiance and are you kiddin me,? $5 is too much?
    Different strokes I guess........ peace

It's not too much..just a bit high. In the US you have rent for a storefront....in Mexico and the DR they have the same conditions as Ja. Just a bit high in my experience.

There are some stands on the West End where they charge more. However, they will blend any other fruit with the OJ (i.e. mango, pineapple) and squeeze it by hand right in front of you. To me, that is worth the 7 bucks. I can probably find fresh squeezed oj at home, from some Pennsylvania dairy, but nothing this fresh.

Really fresh squeezed? That's a pretty amazing price, considering how many oranges you need to squeeze to get a half gallon - 24-32 medium oranges. Add in the labor and the container, and you're getting a price I certainly can't match in central NY state.

Of course, I expect to pay a premium for anything on the beach compared to the best price I can find in a supermarket.

Compared to ordering a glass of of OJ in a stateside restaurant I feel 5$ is a steal.

A very fair price for hand delivered fresh juice. It's $3-5 for the garbage we get in the USA.
