New phone ?

I want to purchase a gift for a friend in Negril and am not sure what kind. Just to talk local and keep in touch on Facebook occasionally. Maybe some pics. 50 - 75 US Or would we be better off to wait til I get there? I have been looking on Amazon and eBay but I also don't want cheap junk. I know unlocked and all that , anyone experienced on pricing , quality or brand with a good track record? Thanks in advance.

Get yourself an old iPhone 4 before you leave home. Make sure it's unlocked. Bring it to the Digicell office in town and get yourself a sim card for $600 Ja.

I used my old iPhone 4 with iOS 9 when I was there and it was barely useable. iOS 9 severely slows it down and the battery life was terrible.

If you look on Amazon, I've had a phone by Blu before, they are relatively cheap unlocked.

I looked at the Blu's for the price but am afraid it won't be durable. I hate for it to quit on her and not be able to get it warranteed.

Yes that's what I'm talking about. Gives me the specs for the $ there ( quit being a tight ***) and also lets me know what to look for here. Wanted to show up with a wrapped bday present but started thinking about the disappointment when it was junk or worse! Hate to have to drag it back home or get a message two months later that your present for naught!

I love the info from seasoned travelers. I have a friend that has old iPhones so I definitely will take this info into consideration. Also lets me know what type of phone will work. Always trust your Uncle J!!!

dem want Androids here that are new and loaded with all the features.......
gotta have front and back camera with LED flash......wifi..wifi hot spot.....good ram memory for der games.....
best thing to do is go to Best Buy and buy one.......you may have to unlock it if isn't already.....
do your research first and then buy.......if you bring a used phone or one without all the features....they won't be happy here
they like da best here...and know the difference......this is an Android country...like Samsung Galaxies.....not an iPhone country......
don't buy a phone here as they are very expensive like anything electronic here.....just the way it is......
unlocked refurbished Samsung Galaxy Duo or refurbished or new Samsung Galaxy would do the trick......ur budget is on the low side
