Send yourself an email with an attachment with copies of all your documents, Passport, Credit cards with contact phone numbers, Health insurance with contact phone numbers, Hotel confirmations etc.

I see a lot of good advice here. I would add that you don't need to waste you money at all-inclusive properties - get out, try a lot of new things, meet a lot of people. Respect.

I work in IT security, and I would never trust that all the servers email goes through are secure. So don't put credit card numbers in an email. Use one of the standard encryption software packages - I use PGP - and then put your key numbers into a file, encrypt the file, then delete the original (and empty your recycle bin/trash can).

i have never done mobay...only once in 11 trips would have been worth it...i was through immigrations and baggage claim before my buddy, who did the mobay on one of my trips...

Club Mobay ....is it REALLY worth the extra $$$ ???

this has got to b old...have always had a 5 pack or two in checked luggage...several times my luggage has been checked(red zip tied and a note saying so) and we also have lighters on us boarding the plane....once in 2010 i think, they took our lighters coming back at mobay...

NO. They are allowed in your pocket or carryon, but NOT in checked luggage.

My experience has been that on the way back, Jamaican airport security doesn't let you have them on your person.

absolutely not...lock it up when u get there, ...we have a copy handy, u will only need it if u rent something, or purchase a sim card for phone, or something like that....we never carry any id, and a trip back to the room if we ever needed it...maybe 3 times in 11 trips...lol

As a newbie getting ready for her first trip to Jamaica- first trip out of the US really, aside from Cabo and a couple of cruises... I am NOT well versed on out of country travel. I truly appreciate all insight and tips here on this forum. I have what is probably a stupid question, but... here goes anyway. I've read that you must carry your US passport with you at all times while in Jamaica. Well if that's the case, I don't see people carrying their passports while swimming. I've heard some people say carry a photocopy, others say photocopies will do you no good, but keep a photocopy somewhere safe in case your passport gets stolen. What's the real deal here... passports necessary while you're out and about, whether swimming/walking the beach/going to dinner, etc?
