    Phones

Has anyone purchased an international phone service from Verizon for the iPhone? They have plans for Jamaica, just wanted feed back on it. If you purchase the innternatinal plan does that mean you are connected anywhere in Jamaica? Thank you for any input.

Can't remember calling because it was expensive. Text is not as much. One year had no service. The next year signal was okay but did not use it because of the expense the year or two before. Best to get a local phone and message by email or face book if necessary. Sorry this is not much help but we ran up our bill one year so now I tell my family not to call unless it's an emergency.

Thank you for the input, I will probably call Verizon and ask some questions. I know we can always go to bars that have wifi and buy a Red Stripe and connect, I was just wanting to know if anyone had purchased the plan and if they were connected up and down the beach. I remember our first year in Jamaica (15 years ago) we made two collect calls to our son and didn't talk long, we forgot to tell him where we were staying, the bill was 190 dollars for the 2 calls. I don't think we talked more than 10 mins each time. I like sitting around on the beach, I don't think the place we are staying has wifi. Thanks again. Staying at Donaldson's inn.

I have, and you're far ahead just buying a cheap phone with minutes and/or data while in Jamaica.

    Marko,

What time are you usually at Peewee's? I ate there almost every day when I was down and only one time did I ever see anyone at the bar, and it was an older rasta. I pretty much got there when they opened though. When I saw the rasta, it might have been on the Friday, when I was there a bit after lunch. It was pretty quiet when I was there, usually just me or one other table.

~Just my two cents worth - I mostly only comment on places I've seen and or eaten at personally.

I've seen Marko there plenty of times. Usually in the late afternoon\early evening.

On one of our earlier trips to Negril, I added an international plan to my AT&T service. The service worked great (AT&T is partners with Digicel) but the bill was still pretty expensive. After that I invested in a Digicel phone.

Marko, I have an old Nokia 1661, that T Mobile will not help me unlock. If I bring it to Peewee's can you help get it unlocked? Of course, red stripes are on me.
