Expecting our first in two weeks. How young have you/would you bring a baby to Jamaica? Also, I understand every baby will react differently to each situation. My only real concern is the plane and not annoying the crap out of passengers for 3.5 hours

Congrats on the new addition! I'm in the same boat - just had my first in July... Chomping at the bit to get back but I'm waiting it out... Between the breast feedin, naps and diaper changin then figure in the sun being horrible for babies and sunscreens a no-no... I just don't think the trip would be relaxing or beneficial to anyone (people on a plane being my last concern). Then there's cabin pressure and sick people to worry about- ya just never know...
As much as I'm dying to go... I'm thinking at the end of this year/early next year would be best for the wife and I and most of all the lil empress! Can't wait for her to get in that warm wata!

My wife and I have been to Negril many times over the years and couldn't wait to take our son Thomas to Jamaica. He was born August 21st, 2014. My wife and I agreed not to take him out of the country until he had most of his vaccinations. We waited until he was 15 months old to head down to Negril.
We had reservations about everything already stated. We have 5.5 hours of flight time from Kansas City to MBJ. Thomas slept about 90% of the flight there and back. The few times he cried no one had a problem with it. Planes are not like the 90's and the cabin pressure is not an issue anymore. Everyone on each plane were very nice. Passengers would play peek-a-boo with him. The Jamaican women around us on our arrival flight would ask to hold him and would tell him about Jamaica.
Planning in advance was the key. We brought many diapers, swim diapers, pacifiers, juice cup, life jacket, baby sunscreen, etc. Locals and tourist were very nice to him and would come up to us and tickle him or rub his head. The hardest part for us is that he wouldn't take a nap after being in the water because he didn't want to miss anything, but around 7pm he would crash. When eating people were very aware of him and would walk out of the area to smoke which was appreciated. The nice thing about him being 15 months is that he could eat the Jamaican food. He ate an entire beef patty by himself. My kid can eat and ate an entire 1/4 chicken and rice/peas by him self at DeBar.

Im due in 2 weeks aswell (well 2 weeks 3 days to be exact) and we are planning our trip down in May/June of this year. We will be going for a short trip only 5 nights, but i wanted to get out there to vist family.
We're still in the planning stages i'm not sure where we will be staying, traveling with a 2.5 year old and a 5 month old is going to be very different from traveling alone.
I have brought my first child when he was six months old. We had a good time and it worked out but it was kind of difficult. Idle Awhile(where we stayed) was very helpful during our stay and made it more pleasurable. Its kind of a pain in the ass though! I have two boys now 8 and 6 years old and took them last May for a couple of weeks and we had a great time! Anyway my suggestion is to stay at a kid friendly place such as Idle Awhile because that will make all the difference!
I think you can travel with children internationally when they are at least 6 weeks. I travelled to Jamaica with my daughter when she was 10 months, we had a 3 1/2 flight and she went to sleep about 20 minutes into the flight and was sleep the entire time, I gave her a bottle on take off and she had one of her favorite toys to play with. I took with me everything I would use at home and more, almost everything you have for a baby is available in portable form...highchairs, beds, etc. etc. Most restaurant had high chairs, if you traveling with a baby in the carrier you can just flip it over and place the carrier in between the legs. On flights you have the option of sitting baby on your lap or purchasing a seat for the carseat
and/or carrier.
Also, I took with me a jogging stroller, it was much easier to use on the beach and the bumpy roads.

Baby passports are the cutest!!!
We just got back from Negril with our 20-month-old son and it was amazing!!! We also took him to Mexico when he was about 15 months and he has flown probably about a dozen times in the states, too.
As others have said, your baby is likely to sleep most of the plane ride.
There was a couple from Kingston at our hotel (Country Country) that had a 5 month old with them. I think Negril is very baby-friendly!

We are looking forward to bringing our granddaughter Feb 2017 - she will be 2 1/2 by then - the parents will be coming as well - otherwise not sure if I could handle it for a weekyou sort of forget how you managed way back when
