The cans of tinned ackee are right below these beautiful bottles. I talked to the stock guy and he said they are trying to get other ackee vendors in. Pretty nice selection of jerk spices and others all at my local grocer (Pete's Fresh Market again in Oakbrook Terrace, a western suburb of Chicago). No need to bring back anything except JBM coffee and I still feel like I am supporting Jamaican industry. I would also like to see some Jamaican honey and sugar for sale...
Ackee and salt fish........not a fan.......my sis always tried to get me to eat it.......yuck....
It grows here in So. Florida so we can just pick it off the tree.
I love ackee but don't really care for salt fish. In Accompong at my home we often use "Veggie Chunks" (vegetable protein) instead with lots and lots of mountain garlic.

I love ackee but prefer it "ital style". Ackee, with some scallions, tomato, thyme, garlic.....Yummy with some warm coco bread!!I do like Hot Pepper on mine however.
