Question about vow renewal? Help please... =)

Good day all. Thanks for always keeping the board interesting. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I do have a question, hope you all can help. Friends of mine are visiting Negril in Feb. They are already married and are planning on a vow renewal ceremony on the beach. They checked with their hotel, but the cost is around $600 USD. That's a little out of their budget. They are not looking for flowers or anything and only a few people will attend. They just need a person to perform the vow renewal. No paperwork necessary. Any thoughts on contacts that may be wiling to perform the service, doesn't have to be a religious person, just someone that may have a little experience in these matters.

    Any help is much appreciated.

With the right people and the right words you could orchestrate yourselves. A good friend could perform the ceremony, they could write their own affirmations and just ask the resort to provide some champagne and a waiter or two to serve their party...just a thought!

They could ask Father Jim from St Andrews kitchen to do the ceremony and in return give a nice donation to the soup kitchen. It is located on road towards Sav Lamar, just passed police station on the left side of road. Or anyone at the hotel would know how to get ahold of him.

They could do as Prism suggested and they could get a cake from a local shop and champagne from Hi Lo and maybe pick up some of the cheap plastic champagne glasses in the states to take with them.

We were married this summer by my wife's sister. She just had to fill out a form online. There are a number of "Churches" that exist in name only with the basic principle that anyone should be allowed to perform a legal wedding ceremony.

Here is one http://www.themonastery.org/ 5 min you can be a minister.

Last year, during an afternoon thunderstorm, we dashed into Tony's hut to get out of the rain. We came across Niah there. Niah has always impressed me with his spirituality and kindness. Anyways, we were celebrating our 10th anniversary and asked him to renew our vows. So what better place surrounded by our friends. Niah was so honored we asked him. I couldn't have asked for a more special celebration of our commitment and something we'll always remember.

At sunset, go out on the beach, hold hands, renew your vows, save the money for rum.

You might give Isabelle Stewart try. I think she could set up something nice and reasonably priced. She has a request a quote link on her site at http://weddingsbyisabellejamaica.com/#!/isabelle

Grace Lee is a justice of the peace in Negril, and might be able to help. Lenbert can help you get in contact with her.

    Good one!
If you are worried about something, do something about it. If there is nothing you can do, why worry!
