Don't blame the merchants for the poor value of the Canadian dollar. Either way if the prices are listed in USD or JMD, the relative cost has increased dramatically when starting with CAD. The devaluation in CAD has caused a lot of problem both in Canada and the US. It's great for exports from Canada, but terrible for imports. Right now, many US based manufacturers haven't even kept up with the rate of devaluation. Late summer it was 1.25 to 1, now above 1.4 to 1. It doesn't look like there is a any indication of slowing down. I've seen some articles saying 2 to 1 later this year. Who knows.
Keep in mind all of this happening after many years of a strong Canadian dollar. Just something to think about.
1 CAD = 85 JMD
1 CAD = 0.71 JMD = 85 JMD
