Smile No Lobsters during April, May and June?? Say it aint so..

I know you cannot fish for lobsters but can you still buy/order them from restaurants (maybe frozen)? One of the best things about going to Negril is going to 3 Dives and getting LOBSTA!!!! We have only ever gone in July, Aug and Sept but thinking of going in April or May, and I would have to get my mind prepared for no lobster, hahah! Thanks for the input!!

The ban is to protect the lobsters during their breeding time, and we encourage no one to order lobster during these 3 months. Restaurants are required to have a count of frozen lobsters and declare them on April 1st that they can sell up to April 21st.

Try the shrimp - it makes an excellent substitute during the breeding season.

People still tried to sell me lobster last April and I declined with a touch of polite disgust... "Oh no! Not out of season, thank you"

When is the official end time of the ban? We arrive late June but stay until July 8.

I'm sure! It seems like a major part of local commerce!

When we were in Negril last May there were people getting lobster every day for lunch from the lobster guy walking the beach. I hated seeing that they didn't care about it being out of season. I love lobster but I won't support the sellers out of season.
