Does anyone know what is open on election day? Is it considered a holiday?
Some businesses close in the afternoon but no way to know which ones.
I would guess that the tourist oriented places will be open. But just a guess

It is business as usual, except the stores are not to sell alcohol. Hillo has reduced hours and no. alcohol sales posted.
Tourist businesses will be business as normal.

Cosmos is closed at 3:00. How safe is it to drive into town in afternoon? When do elections end??

Cosmos is probably closing early, so their employees have a chance to vote. Polls close at 5pm.
I know of one West End business that will be closed for the day. Jenny's is closed for the day, however Connie has mentioned giving her a call if you need your special cakes. Her number will be posted on the door if you do not have it.
