Blu Mountain Coffeee

I'm curious about the coffee on eBay, and will probably place a small order and form my own opinion on if it's legit JBM coffee. It does seem to be such a good bargain that it may be too good to be true, but it appears that the sellers have perfect or near perfect feedback so I feel it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario is I'm drinking fake JBM coffee instead of Dunkin Donuts for a couple weeks.

Yeah, I may just be done trying to contribute anything to the discussions around here. People don't appreciate knowledge that doesn't mesh with their viewpoint, and too many people are just mean spirited. I don't need it.

My guess is a lot of boardies will relate to at least some part of my experiences with JBM. Coffee drinker comes to Jamaica for the first time and has some really good tasting coffee. Does some research and discovers that Jamaica produces what many say is the finest coffee in the world. Next trip looks to bring some back home. Goes to local grocery store and buys some to take back home. On subsequent trips realizes that there are different grades of coffee and that some restaurants sell High Mountain, some sell Blue Mountain, some sell instant, and most places lie altogether about what they are selling, period.

Then find myself on one trip up in the Blue Mountains at the Blue Mountain Cafe outside of Newcastle. There I have without a doubt the best cup of coffee of have ever tasted. French pressed, overlooking the whole of Kingston. And though I have forgotten the actual cost of the cups, indeed, was the most expensive cups of coffee I have ever bought. Oh, but that taste I will never forget. So back to purchasing from local vendors, grocery stores, you name it, I've tried it. I had customs tear open the bags I've brought home, stale bags, bags with rocks in them; not to mention the hassle of whether the extra pounds will put my luggage over the weight limit.

In a natural progression in my search, I look to ebay. No hassle, cheap price and great taste. So I don't waste my time searching anymore. I've tried all the ebay sellers, and Lina comes the closest I have been able to find in the search for that "taste" I experienced at the top of the Blue Mountains, all considered. They sell a very respectable brand (Wallenford) with a roast (dark) I find is closest to, again, what I experienced at the BM cafe, and certainly a price that means I won't have to sell my land in Negril just to feed my coffee habit. And did I mention it comes vacuumed packed for freshness.

Next weekend I will be back at that Blue Mountain Cafe and plan on enjoying another french pressed cup of authentic (and expensive) Blue Mountain Coffee; just as I did 17 years ago, but, in between those times, I'll be happy and content to enjoy my morning ebay cup that takes me back to the Blue Mountains with every sip...

Yeah, there is probably some truth to that. I was attempting to be helpful, but here we are. Still, it's getting to be common place. I'll still read the board, maybe chime in from time to time, but I think I need a break from posting.
