    Re: Snorkeling

That's depressing for sure but I kinda figured that was the case because on one of my last times at that place I was hanging out with some guys fishermen there that I met when I was taking pictures of a catamaran that had a giant decal of dale Earnhardt,s number 3 car on the side of it and they told me that the land was going to be developed. Since my last trip i just kept telling myself that things move slow in Jamaica and it probably hasn't started yet or maybe the deal fell through. I went there a few times with a rake I borrowed from where we usually stay and cleaned up the beach. I used to bring other tourists I met to that spot and we would party and snorkel all day and into the evening on many occasions. Once we even brought a Jamaican with us and payed him to cook us dinner on the shore. It was my favourite spot on the island for years and if I could I would have just brought a tent and sleeping bag to Jamaica and damped there for a month lol. I hate change and it was so nice to go there and even though it was close to Negril it felt like we were on our own deserted island in the Caribbean.

I have hear really good things from friends who have snorkelled at Rhodes resort and the price seems great considering it includes transportation and use of the grounds. My wife doesn't snorkel much so it works for me because she can lay on the beach and swim in the pool or the ocean while I do my thing. You are not to from from xtabi on the cliffs and snorkelling is pretty good there. You can access to ocean from there if you buy a drink or eat there so you may want to give that a try but snorkelling on the cliffs is never as good as it is on the reefs around Negril in my opinion.

Interesting, I booked Xtabi first because it has beach and snorkeling. But then decided to go for the entire house using airbnb. I can take a taxi to go to snorkel whenever I want and where I want. Just need to find out where is the best place , LOL

How to get to the reefs around Negril? fish boats?
Can I find all snorkel tours on the beach?
Might as well to try one to feel the difference

I think most of the glass bottom boats that do the reef and snorkelling trips are based on the beach or at the pier by the mouth of the river but there may be some that operate from the cliffs but for a fee I am sure most little fishing boats would take you out to the reef if you have your own gear. Not positive of the price but I think it's around $25 to $30 to go on a glass bottom snorkelling trip to the reef. If you go to the reef bring some bread to feed the fish
