Those pictures bring back such good memories. Yes the streets were empty.. and when we first came we stayed twice (2 weeks each) in Red ground at Hilltop view cottage. We came in 79 and stayed at the Villa's (remember the pool) we had our 1 yr old with us...peaceful, quiet, you could be by yourself on the beach for hours. We didnt come back until 2005 and have been coming back every year since...

Attachment 45093Love the pics., I have a few from the early 70's when I first visited Negril, like so many I fell in love and have been coming back ever since. I stayed in Red Ground on my first three Negril adventures, Twice with Arthur Campbell and his wife Jo and the third was with a gentleman named Renford and his wife whose name escapes me. From your pic taken looking down the hill, it appears to be just about in the area of Renford's. The Campbell's home was lower on the hill just behind the church which was much smaller then. Also, Arthur's father had a small restaurant on the opposite corner from the Shell station. I know I'm rambling a bit but seeing these great old photos just opened up a flood of memories, thanks for posting. I attached a pic. from 1971 before the cars disrupted feeding time.

No, not a McD's but I do have a bunch of photo's from 71-75 including what is now Burger King but then was a one day a week open air craft market.
