So would we have to rent a local phone? We would not be doing any international calling.
    Thanks

Many people get a local phone or a SIM card to put in their own for use while there. Whatever you do, DO NOT use your stateside phone, you do not want that surprise bill when you get home. Check with your transportation person, sometimes they have them for you to use while in Jamaica.

You can easily book tours and make reservations via the internet. The tour drivers in the negril.com transportation section all correspond by email and phone.
If you're not wanting to purchase a phone while you're visiting here...there's the option of hiring a driver for your airport pickup and return that offers a free phone to use during your stay.

I have AT&T for my cell service. Last summer when I was there I was able to get an international plan for $35. Unlimited calls and texting but very little data. There are many places that have free wifi.
