Whipping a 5000J bill out at a rum bar just might be a douche move, so I hear you. Now at a place live Ivan's or one of the bigger tourist places like Rick's it is a non issue. This is no different than the States, where local convenience stores or fast food joints do not accept bills larger than a $20, and post signs saying so.
