As a sixty- something child of the late 60s early 70s, marijuana has been in my past. With its recent legalization in many states and general cultural acceptance almost everywhere, my interest has been rekindled. I would like to take a tour of a ganja farm in the Negril area while on vacation this month. At my age, I am not the risk taker of my youth and want a "safe" experience. Is there such a tour? Anyone with any experience?
Billyg51, I did a tour last June 2015 and another back in 2008. The two fields I toured were not far from Negril (less than 20 minutes), but both fields took some climbing to reach. I'm in my mid 50's and the field last year was probably 200 yards off the road, but almost all up hill. The field in 2008 was probably 400 yards off the road and it was steep going up as well. This might not seem like a long hike, but remember it will probably be Hot and Humid and it is steep! I went with two very fit young adults last year and we were all winded on the hike up and took several breaks.
The trails are purposely rough to deter unwanted visitors. You must have a guide to bring you to the field and show you around. Don't expect long cultivated rows that are easy to walk through, more likely it will be rocky and the plants growing in old tires.
Depending on the season and field the plants may be early in development.
I recommend sneakers as opposed to flip flops or sandals. If it has rained recently, the going can be slick up hill and really slick coming back down.

A worker at the place we stayed arranged the last one it was in the deep west end and the walk wasn't to strenuous, and the one i did the year before also wasn;t that difficult of a walk in it's a sight to behold once you get into the garden, specially if you've never seen it growing in quantity before.
ask a driver you trust....or just ask around.....the Drivers that hangout by SamSara all do the Ganja tours on the cheap

Pure Resort has brochures in their lobby, I think its called 420tours or something like that. It details the trip and shows pics and pricing, etc. PR is across street from Bourbon Beach.
How much is it priced at Ron Mon, I paid nothing , and $20 the other time but got that back in samples at the end of the tour but i did have my own ride.
Come to the west coast of the U.S. If u ever want to see some real ganja farms
