    Friends in the Hood

Hello To My Dear Friends I have never met. But I sign on almost every day or whenever I can and see what you're all up to. I read about who's there and who's going and who's been. And of course we are all dreaming. Summer means different things to many folks, but one commonality remains. How long more before I go again. Shocking good. Think I'll throw a few chicken legs on the barbie for dinner and make a big pot of rice and peas. Turn up Bob on the deck and forget the rest. btw. If I soon don't go I'm gonna go ding dong cause I can only pretend a likkle while longer. Need a reach.

Jelly Bean, I too need a reach and don't see it in the near future so this at least helps me to know that I'm not ALONE!!!!!

    Keep smiling,

We found breadfruit at a local market and put one on the fire pit this weekend...Jerk chicken thighs last night. I don't really miss the island in the summer. Once summer passes then I'll start Jamaica dreamin'. For now, I have everything I need at home but the ocean view.

Jelly Bean, this board and fellow boardies keep the dream alive for me when I can't be in Negril.

Thanks Rob for helping us with our PNS (Post Negril Syndrome) since 1995!

    Enjoy,

Kevin, what store did you find the breadfruit? We live in the Norristown area.

They occasionally have them at a store called Easton Family Market (not far from the RT 78 Easton Exit) which was once a C-Town. They seem to only get a few in occasionally and they sell out rather quickly. They keep them floating in water so look for a plastic tote or bucket. I believe we paid 1.65 per pound.

Don't confuse the Easton Family Market with the Easton Public Market which is located downtown. Although if you're in the area and want some finer dining options I suggest hitting the downtown which is getting to be known as a culinary destination. You may also want to check C-Town stores if you have those in your area.

Jelly Bean I am looking for a friend in the hood to fill me in on the Ins/Outs of Jamaica. Go, Dont Go, Stay Out/Say in, etc. I am seriously considering relocating and need some local news. Can you help? or point me in the right direction? Thanks

    newb,

I relocated here about 25 years ago and started Negril.com! We have a forum for Living in Jamaica - please be sure to check that out and you can ask more detailed questions about making the move in that forum.

But there is no substitute for actually spending more time here. And of course getting to know who is who and why they are who they are. Learning information directly is the best way. as always.
Negril.com - For the vacation that never ends!

Oh newb, I am only a dreamer. You will have to read the forum and get a framework for what you'd like to do and where you'd like to be. Rob has good advice and so does many more friends here. The day I walk into the grocery store and find soursop, is the day I'm gonna kiss the produce manager, buy 10 or 12 and go home and pig out. But for today it's a Jamacian Cider and a few quiet moments with Bob, on the deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean! But....I'll be back soon.
