    Smile Trip report #8-The dog

"No, honey, you can stay here,You don't have to go with me" she said.
(Man, she read my mind) I was in a chill out mood.

She kissed me goodbye and told me lunch was ready on the stove.
As she walked to the road I saw a crowd just down the street.

She stood on the road, joined by the family, just staring towards the crowd.
Uh oh, something is going on.
I put on my sandals and ran down the stairs, made it to the road.

Cars were stopped and people were all standing on the road.

There was a Taxi, stopped and the driver was bent down in front of the car.

"The dog, him got licked, him a go and get mashed up under de car" a bystander said.

A walked a little closer and saw 2 legs sticking out from behind the license plate.

There is that scoop part down low, then a space of about 6 inches , then more front end under the front hood.
The license plate is in the middle.

The dog was "behind " the license plate and moving a little .

The driver said "Mi member how him a run out in front of the car, about 15 miles back!
I knew I licked him, but.........

When the driver stopped to let someone out, a person standing on the road said
"Hey mon, you have a dog stuck in the grill of your car"

It took about 15 minutes, but the driver got the dog out.
It was one of those light brown Jamaican dogs you see a lot.

Small, not a puppy, just a small female dog.

When the driver pulled her out, the dog just hung in the mans hand.
    Happy to be alive.

Another driver that had stopped going the opposite way
said he would take him back to where the accident happened,
maybe someone will recognize the dog.

They carried the dog into that taxi, opened the hatchback and laid him down.
Closed the Hatch and the driver took off down de road.

Hmmm, what concern was shown by the whole community for one little dog.

poor pup. I wish more locals showed love for the dogs. I know it's a different culture but still sad when you see them on the beach with broken legs and what not from getting abused.
