I was day dreaming and missed my stop.
(Hey, hope I did not write this one before)
I had just finished swimming and had sat down to
dry off and relax.
It was a fine day, hardly anyone on the beach.
Not one person approached me.
You could probably walk for 1/2 an hour on the beach,
in either direction, and not hear a voice.
So, my morning constitution is finished.
Nothing like a swim and a brew and a good walk
to invigorate the soul.
It was nearing lunch time and I decided to head back.
I caught a Route mobile to the Bus Park,
there I hopped in a Taxi going my way.
I had a nice seat, up front
"Shotgun seat" I call it.
Halfway to my location,
the driver slowed down to pick up a new fare.
"excuse me kind sir, would you mind letting
this lady sit up front?" the driver said.
Huh?, what?
Where is she going to sit? On my lap? I said.
I knew what he meant, but I was just giving him a hard time.
*^%%$%^*&%%& it!!
I love the front, the back is all jammed up most times.
I looked out the window and saw
a local elderly woman, she was kinda wide and had a big bag.
"Oh well, these Taxi's are really for the locals" I thought.
So, I got out and hopped in the back.
We took off and were flying down the road.
Maybe I'm just getting old, but it is
kinda hard to pick out a certain place on the road when I'm crammed in the back,
many people talking and heads all in the way.
I always look to the left for my landmark.
But, I was feeling no pain and the ride was not bad.
Only 3 of us in the back.
Day dreaming.
It's my fault.
Feeling good, nice locals in the back,
me trying to eaves drop and pick -up on the conversation.
Windows down and the sweet smell of the Jamaican countryside
blowing in the windows.
I was totally relaxed, just dreaming.
All of the sudden, I concentrated and looked out the window.
Hmmm, nothing looks familiar??
"Driver, I was trying to get to Yada, yada, yada??
"Mon, we passed that spot a ways back.
He pulled over and said
"You can get out here, there will be a Motor bike Taxi coming.
Have him take you about 15 minutes back that way.
I got out and there were about 6 people, 2 men, 2 women and a couple of little kids
sitting on the side of the road.
I got out, the taxi pulled off and the locals
just stared at this crazy tourist guy, with a "lost look" on his face.
I explained to them, what happened.
"Yeah Mon, a motor bike will be by shortly"
One of the men had a little 2 year old on his lap.
I complimented on how cute she was.
(wanted to get in good with these folks)
Soon, a motorcycle guy, pulled up, and the man with the kid
explained to the guy what happened and where I needed to go.
I hopped on the back and found my original destination in no time.
These Jamaican locals seem to always be helpful, when I am lost or something.
They probably got a good laugh over my situation.
