hello all,
we were thinking about stopping at the mega mart this trip. we would get a couple cases of beer , couple cases of water and some snacks . is it really much of a savings as opposed to just stopping at the super market by the roundabout or just buying the beer at the little bar next to rooms on the beach?

We actually paid more at the MEGA MART than just stopping in Negril, we were shocked that the case of beer price was substantially higher. Our best price we have found is the little market across from BOURBON BEACH. I think it was $27 or $28 J last trip.
For us it isn't so much about price savings as it is about convenience. Arriving at our hotel fully stocked gets the party started faster!

Mega Mart is similar in pricing to HiLo...always found beer to be a bit cheaper at Mega Mart.
As with stores in many places...some items are cheaper at MM others items cheaper at HiLo etc.
It's the convenience like Ras said...but you also have a larger variety of items to choose.
I agree with Ras. Grabbing cases of beer and water all at once is a lot easier than dealing with it later.
We also like to stock up on our way in with the basics we will need. We also purchase things we bring home with us like coffee and guava jelly. It requires an extra cab ride if we wait for a day to shop. We have tried Mega Mart a few times but now we stop at the Hi Lo on the way out of MoBay. I think it takes us about half the time to shop at Hi Lo compared to Mega Mart due to the shear size of Mega Mart.
After years of stopping at Mega Mart for reasons stated above, I have concluded its an unnecessary delay in getting to my resort. From my resort, I walk across the street to the local convenience store and get everything I need. Although for me price is not the issue, I'll bet it's competitively priced also. As a bonus, I get to support the local family who own and run that business.

Stop in Negril to get your supplies. You can get anything you need and the prices are competitive with Mo Bay............................................... ............
Unless you need a 1 1/2 HP pump...then you need stop in MoBay

Last trip I just had our driver stop at a store in Lucea, much quicker than MegaMart, got most of what we needed.
I like Megas selection..if they don't have what you want..chances are you won't find it anywhere else..like Miller lite..lol
