This is an important one. Jamaica is swimming in plastic water bottles. This can be refilled for 500 Ja.
Be conscious of how you dispose of plastic while you are here.

When I was at the Mineral bath with Linston,
A guy walked up with a Book bag.
He took out 5 empty of those long plastic bottles (One holds about 4-5 regular sizes) to be filled up with water.

are there any recycling facilities in Westmoreland or Hanover? I've seen so much trash all over the beach and river, it's so baffling to me! I was just having a conversation with Moose about this today! I'll be bringing my stainless steel water bottles with me, and my reusable straws. I'm glad that most places will happily fill reusable mugs... I'm not looking for "more for less" I just don't want to use the plastic cups and straws. I am considering purchasing stainless steel straws from a company called Norwex (as a no-pressure aside, if anyone is interested, my colleague is a rep for the company and can place an order for you). I have the colorful bubba brand straws, which I think are made from silicone... I'm not sure how ecologically responsible they are... but they are better than the plastic ones, I guess.
I was so disappointed in the MDW airport when the guy at Wendy's told me he couldn't fill my coffee mug because it wasn't sanitary. Understandable, I guess... so I asked him if he could pour it from the paper cup to my mug then reuse the paper cup... he said no, he couldn't. He'd just have to throw the cup away. Any Dunkin's I've been to will refill a mug for you. I wish more places were like that.

I must confess that I am old enough to remember a different attitude to trash when I was younger. People complain about government regulation, but I've lived thru the transition form "Toss it out! Who cares?" to recycling, composting and reuse. The planet is happier for it where it happens. I can't for the life of me understand why this hasn't caught on in Jamaica. It breaks my heart how much trash is strewn about many parts of Jamaica. It's really painful to see plastic waste being burned.

Just imagine how clean Jamaica could be if they put a small deposit on plastic bottles and other things that can be recycled

There are gov't campaigns, fines etc that are being implemented just as we had to do back in the day to change our attitudes about litter.
