I agree with wrtiii. I do not want to spend my vacation counting pennies. I know that in Negril (though I've visited for 25 years) that I will fall for some scam or rip off. You arrive naïve...your guard is down...before you know it you pay more than what you wanted to. You must budget for that. My advice to visitors is to be "flush with cash". You can't have too much cash in Negril...and the last thing you want to have happen is to be short of cash. Cash is King. I hopped a cab for a really short distance and told the driver I really could have walked but... He said "you got money, you can ride!". Save up for your trip and bring as much cash as you can/.

PapaG...you are so right...but after living here almost 10 years, I still have trouble remembering to carry bleepin' cash...I got way to comfortable using banking & credit cards over the years.
Thankfully it's a small town...they know either Rob will follow up to pay the bill when I forget cash or catch me the next time 'round...they know where I live...haha!

I'm old school I have to have money in my pocket even up here in Canada! I always laugh when I go pick up my order from the TD Bank as they are always amazed how much Jamaican you get! LOL!
Some people were born in the wrong century....I was born in the wrong country!

I find that I tend to get home and then wonder why I cannot account for a couple of hundred bucks....too much rum probably...over the next few weeks I usually start to remember.

Can't be just plain old forgetfulness can it??? I usually get home and think oh, I tipped, I ate, I drank, bought a bracelet and just had a really good time! It all adds up eventually and is worth every penny!

The cashier probably put a wrong code in for something, $250 Jamaica is under $2US I don't think she would do that for that amount of money

It might not be worth it in time or money for you to go back to the store, but if you have a phone, call the store number on the receipt and let them know what happened.

I've had no problem returning spoiled product or recently, I was charged for 2 of an item, when I only bought one. I call them as soon as I notice the problem, and then when I go to the store they already know the issue and are quick to resolve it. "I'm the lady who called about such-and-such".

Nowadays the grocery stores have computerized registers that give the product name/description as well as the cashier's name.
