Rumlover, out of curiousity, did you tip a $1 bill or a $1 coin? A friend of mine brought down a bunch of US $1 coins to use as tips, and was disconcerted that nobody wanted them. Either the cambios won't take them, or the people just didn't know what they were.

If it was a bill, well, you can find an idiot anywhere you go.

Thanks for the info Livin. I like to have money for tips readily available as well so I appreciate knowing who will be assisting us. As far as departure the worst part is checking in for our flight and Club Mobay doesn't help you with that. The rest of the departure process is nothing compared to that. We have a tradition of having an overpriced cheeseburger at Margaritaville on our way home. In the early to mid '90s there weren't many restaurants in the airport so there wasn't much choice.

We have the same MBJ Margaritaville tradition! We never step foot into the Negril location but for some reason it seems imperative once we are checked in... US1$ coins are no good but I hear the US2$ bill is a big hit.

The tip was a $1 bill for a $3 beer. If I had stayed and kept drinking I would have kept tipping too.

    Ahhhhh tipping.......my favorite topic.
I tip according to the service I receive multiplied by a factor of how much I think it will affect the person's life.
Look around while you are in Jamaica. Does it appear that these people have been so "over-tipped" that have become spoiled and lazy?
I tip well for selfish reasons. I love the thought of a service provider going home with more money than they thought was possible.
It makes me feel like I am (in a tiny way) helping.
    Same thing here at home.
If you see a waitress who is working her tail off and doing a great job (not just with your table but also with all of the others) see for yourself how good it feels to leave a $10 tip on a $12 breakfast.
Know that somebody else who received just as good of service as you did only left a dollar.

Just my 2 cents but put a few hundred extra dollars in your budget for a week in Jamaica and you'll have at least that much more value in your trip.

Yes, $2 US bills are a hit, been bringing them down for years! This certainly was a interesting post.

Hi, my name is Mike and I'm a overtipper[all together, Hi Mike] I don't think those tips are out of line. We are doing the Club Mobay on our up coming trip. I was figuring a 5 for the escort though. Other than, I say tip away. We tip at AI as well. It's amazing what extra attention it gets you. Spent many years on the receiving end, time to give back. We happen to budget for a lot of tips though. Understand if some can't though or just don't. To each their own. I say, do what your comfortable doing.

It's all relative to personal discretion. I tend to tip my ass off.. who cares? Each their own
