This is getting really old...damned if you do, damned if you don't!
More information and comments are allowed on Negril.com than any other Negril based website anywhere (excluding rumour and speculation and openly hostile comments...which I personally think should be challenged and/or deleted)...what more do you want!?
If you have something constructive, beneficial or helpful to add to a thread...it's always been allowed.
What I would like is for there to be open and honest dialogue. I made a comment a few days ago on a similar thread, that was not hostile, did not contain any hearsay or rumors, and it was deleted because I mentioned Colin Lynch's murder (among many others) in a list of what I described as "recent" murders. So, if I had omitted the word "recent", would that comment have been deleted? I think the fact that I mentioned that our last couple trips have been elsewhere also contributed. But the comment was relevant, and factual. I just think you guys censor too much, and it looks bad. That's all.
edit: having said that, I do understand that you're running a tourism website, and I "get" what you're trying to balance. But my above comment stands. I think you, and everyone else would be better off if you deleted less. Just my opinion.
First...While I obviously have first hand knowledge about the runnings of Negril.com, you are wrong in your assumption about me having the ability to moderate or delete any post...only Rob and his staff have that ability. I am not staff!! At the moment, I'm commenting more...but I still do not have moderator status.
Second...I do know about your post being removed and I'm pretty sure Rob explained to you what happened. You got caught in the closing of a thread that was filled with complete inaccuracies and conspiracy theories. Rob was on the phone discussing it with the moderator on duty at the time and your post was made while in the process of closing the thread. Simple!
You are asking for an "open and honest dialogue", how can a thread with completely inaccurate information and conspiracy theories be open and honest and/or helpful to anyone?
Third...Not much actually gets deleted...open and honest discussions are allowed as I've already stated (excluding rumour and speculation and openly hostile comments)...but quite frankly bringing up Colin who was a friend and neighbour of ours for many years and while the loss is still fresh in our hearts...personally I don't consider this tragedy, you've stated above as being honest or accurate if you're calling it a recent event.
Fourth...Why would you mention another location? I'm going to Iceland...but why would I speak about that on Negril.com...the business name says it all!![]()

I will go in order.
I didn't assume that you deleted my comment, that's not what I meant. Apologies for not being clear on that.
Yes, Rob explained it to me, but I don't think you're giving an accurate representation of what that thread contained. At least not completely accurate. My post was deleted, but the thread remained until after I PM'd Rob about deleting my comment. Then the thread was closed.
About mentioning Mr Lynch; I guess we just have different definitions of "recent".
I didn't mention another location. I said, in a thread where people were discussing the possibility of tourism declining due to the violence, that our last two trips were "elsewhere". Can I not say that?
You mean... there is censoring opinions on this forum...how could that be...I don't believe it...that's crazy.
