    Getting at tattooed in Negril

I have friends of mine that are heading to Negri next month, first timers. They are staying at an AI and both of them are looking to get a tattoo while on vacation. They have traveled to a few rural places around the world and always get tattoos at each place.

Since my family has gone to JA many times, they are asking me. I am not a tattoo person so I haven't thought about it or seen a place around town.

    Any suggestions?

I don't have an answer to your question but....
How do they enjoy vacation with a tattoo when it don't suppose to be exposed to sun or the water on top of being covered at all times adding ointment etc...unless they get it on the last night before departure...jus wondering since I have 8 tattoos and I know the healing process is a challenge...cant imagine maintaining while on vacay.

IRIEchic - That's a good question. I'm not a tat person and don't have any. But since I know they have done this multiple times before I am sure they bring any supplies with them that they might need and cover it up or do it late in their trip.... Or whatever is needed... I'm green on this topic.

Agree with IRIEchic. I have three Jamaica themed tattoos and I have to time them so they will be completely healed before we go Jamaica. Tattoos should not be exposed to sun, ocean water or hot tub water for 3-4 weeks after getting the tattoo.

I agree, I have 9 tattoos and I couldn't imagine getting one there unless it is within one or two days from leaving because you would eventually having to get it touched up by someone back home because the sun and sweat will probably prevent some colors from keeping intact.....

No worries boardies. They get it done their last day or two. Like I said they have done this before, multiple time in numerous countries, plus in the US. They are looking for suggestions on tattoo artist to contact or where to go. Thanks for the concern and pointers.

One of the locals would be best to ask once they're down there.

There used to be a tattoo place in the mall near the HiLo...but they are no longer open. I'm not sure who to go to while in Negril.
