It's a private owned property with a beautiful, natural beach front complete with food and beverage to purchase, sometimes live music, and their very own pirate island (with flushing toilets!). I've heard various reports of the actual cost. When I went, it was $5 to use the beach and $5 for the boat ride to the island. Some report that it only cost $5 for the boat ride, and no charge for the beach entry. They have great snorkeling and I've heard various reports about whether there is snorkel gear for rent or not. I'd bring my own if you are truly interested in that particular activity.
You have been very helpful, thank you. I had already planned on doing some snorkeling so I'll be sure to bring my own gear but Half Moon Beach sounds pretty neat, I'm going to do some research. Also I just have one more question that doesn't pertain to activities: If you could name one place to eat at, what would it be?

    One! Impossible!

    Fish and chips at Alfred's
    Fried chicken at Sweet Spot
Jerk chicken and fries at Bourbon Beach

Would like to try Canoe's breakfast.
Would like to try Hammond's Bakery and Out of Town Pastry for chicken patties

If I was only in Negril for one day and had to pick a place for dinner, it would be Ivan's (only open to outside guests dinner). For Lunch, probably Canoe.

Am1186...in the link below is what a route taxi will look like...
    http://negril.com/nt/nt100616.htm

All legals taxis have a red plate which includes route, charter and tour taxis....a route taxi is decorated a bit more as you'll see in the above link.
With a group of 5 people, you would be better off chartering a taxi instead of trying to grab a route taxi. When you negotiate, most negotiations are based per person, so make sure it's understood you are paying per person or paying per taxi ride.

Of course! They are all things I have done or would like to do.

There is so much you can do, or simply not do! I am always learning new things about Negril and the surrounding region. Continue with your research and you can plan a great trip for yourselves!
