Is the Canoe Bar a decent spot to snorkel or am I way off?

Eh, it's not really a spot I'd recommend to anyone, though if you swim out to the point on the left it gets better.

I agree. Some people will recommend Canoe (aka Mary's Bay) as a good spot for snorkeling, but the few times I went all I saw was a lot of sea grass and hidden sea urchins. Maybe I didn't go out far enough. We usually stay on the cliffs, so decent snorkeling is just a few steps away (Home Sweet Home, has a nice coral canyon right off the ladder). To get any better, you have to go to the reef.

Yeah, I HSH has a pretty good little area for snorkeling (by JA standards), I usually head over that way from BCC then go out to the dropoff right in front of HSH. There's a family of eagle rays that lives right out there.
