I was asked to take everything off. I got down to my underwear and she said that too. She wanted to know what the buldge was all about. I told her I was either growing balls or it was that 'time' of the month. She came at my crotch saying women have been know to take drugs there. I said, baby put your hand there and be ready to DO me. Yes, I showed her the pad I was wearing. I was too numb to give a darn. All this because I had to return 'too soon" for my father's funeral that I had proof of. To this day I still get freaked out about going through Montego Bay customs and have canceled many trips at the last minute at the thought of that happening again.

My first trip to JA was March 1982 We had a direct charter out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Everyone on the plane were staying at the same hotel or most of us anyway. One girl was African Canadian and got so sunburned on the first day that she spent the rest of her vacation in bed. She thought her brown skin wouldn't burn. Duh
And 2 young guys from the charter, well I guess we were all young then, about 20 yeras old. These 2 guys has rastas hanging out at their room/balcony all the time.
When we went to the airport in MoBay, one of the 2 of the guys got pulled aside, the other went through. The one that was free went directly to the washroom where he put a block of coke behind the toilet which was very quickly retrieved by the police. They found him and he was arrested as well. About a week later it was in our Halifax newspaper.
And a friends brother was a mule for a guy and got caught leaving Mobay. His family called me ( I was living in Grand Cayman at the time) to see what I could do. Nothing of course except tell them to get all the money they had to get him out of there ASAP. It was scary for Tim, alone in JA in a cell with LOTS of Jamaican men. They took everything he owned.
1982 a friend filled a carving with oil. He cleared custom at JFK and told his buddy that he needed to get something out of his suitcase!!!!

Guess we just been lucky, numerous visits, no other stamps in passport. My daughter was once only back in he UK 10 days before we flew back out and we thought that might be a big deal, but no hassle at all .
