I didn't want to be the one to bring this up, but since the cat is out of the bag; what going rate for a 1/4 oz?

You can get a real nice stalk/bud for $20 or less. They'll start asking for a lot higher. Just negotiate to where you feel comfortable.

I've heard of prices of $100 for a pound if you have the right connections. Or $80 for a half pound from another person.

As with anything in Jamaica YMMV (a lot!)

    A short history lesson

In the mid 1900s most Ganja was grown in St. Ann's parish and had names Lambs breath, Kings breath and Cali weed.

The best was reaped in April. However some young plants were reaped in December called "Christmas Ganj"

It was Cannabis Sativa as opposed to the Cannabis Indica you get today

Remember that Negril as you know it didn't exist. One spliff would get you serious jail time.

    Three things changed the crop:

    1. As the children of the 60s, 70s and 80 started visiting and demand skyrocketed.

    2. Sativa is a 9 month grow whereas Indica only takes 3 months. More production for more
    demand

    3. The sensimilla craze devastated the seed base on the Island

But I think over the next few years Jamaican cannabis strain will start to change.

One thing I don't understand is this. I was in Oregon last summer and was surprised to see that outdoor grown Cannabis is less costly than the hothouse variety.

I was once told by a old time Rasta that each plant only had one story to tell. You can get the best you can find but sooner or later it stops telling it's story.

Depends. As little as $5, or as much as $50. Depends on your negotiating ability, and who and where you're getting it. I usually get a QP, and pay around $50 for that, which is still a tourist price, locals can get a pound for $50.
