    Trip Report #1.... April 26-May 5

Did not need the alarm this time.
    Woke up at 4:30 A.M.

Coffee, shower, dressed, checked bags, Locked doors and windows.
    Mi ready. :-)

Taxi dude right on time......."to Midway Airport!!!"

Plane left on time. Smooth sailing.....until......
15 minutes before landing in Montego Bay
"This is your Captain, there is a storm hanging over Sangsters Airport,
We are low on fuel.......we will be landing in Kingston.

    *&^^%%$@#(*(&^&^&!!!!!
Man, I have my driver and folks waiting on me, *&^$#&*^^$ it!!

So, any hoo, we are heading to Kingston and as we fly, we get to see the other part of the Island.

So, we are just sitting on the Tarmac, waiting for the fuel, so we can take off and head back to Montego Bay.
    Hmmmm, wait a minute.
    I have my J-cell!!

    Ring.....ring....
    "yo"
Hey Man, Markospoon here, man, the plane could not land in Montego Bay, we are in Kingston.
"Wow, I just left Kingston this morning, LOL
Well, it will be a while until we take off and head back to Montego Bay, will you still wait for me?
    Sure, Mon, mi here now.
Ok, I'll call when we get there, Later.

So, we sit and wait, and sit and wait.
I get up and stretch my legs.
I start a conversation with folks from Texas, they flew into Chicago, then to Jamaica.
It was their 1st time to Jamaica,
so I made them laugh with my stories and adventures on the Island.
The guy was laughing his a-- off the whole time, but his wife would look at me with that
"I'm not gonna let him go out with you" look on her face.
About 2 hours later, we were up and flying back to Montego Bay.

Finally outside in Mobay, meet my driver and he said it was like a white-out with the rain,
Mon, the pilots can't see the runway when the rain is that hard" he told me.

    Ok, lets go.
Finally made it to Negril just as it was getting dark.
The office was still open, but the person that gives me a great nightly rate was not in,
so, I filled out the registration card, but left the "nightly rate" blank.

It was about 4 days before I finally filled in that part and paid for my room.

    Hey 'spoon,

Who was the driver that waited for you? Must be a very conscientious guy!

Hey Markospoon, it was good meeting you! We had the same fun experience of diverting to Kingston, we sat on the ground about 30 minutes while they refuelled, then back to Montego Bay.

    Hey Chuck, yeah mon.
This was just the 2nd time in 20 years that it happened.

    All's well that ends well,
but I was a little upset because it was a late flight "landing at 3:15" to start with.

Now that's a fine driver to wait.
