    Irine,
I respectfully disagree. Nobody ever counts the days until rehab. Nobody ever goes and cries when they have to leave rehab. Nobody dreams of living or spending their retirement years in rehab. They don't allow Rum punch for breakfast in rehab. Nobody comes home from rehab, then goes into rehab withdrawals. Rehab doesn't feel that good!! I think I've made my point!
Now if we were to call Negril therapy or treatment..... Hmmm. wonder if I can get my insurance to cover my trip. I always feel better, mentally and physically when there. We may be onto something.

Negril is not rehabilitation, it's revitalization!

    Irine,
Better to have loved and left, than not to have loved at all! Have a great time!

We will for sure JohnNYC. Will be our 8th as mentioned, but I feel like a newbie compared to how many times some of the boardies have gone. Wouldn't it be something to get every boardie there at the same time? So you're going in August, often thought of the offseason myself, cheaper less busy etc. Can you post after you go to answer a few questions? Have heard horror stories about jellyfish in the summer, and lack of restaurants and general overall services etc. Would like to know the truth from someone first hand instead of rumor and "trip advisor". I trust boardies way way more than trip advisor folks.

I've been to JA about 26 times, 23 of them to Negril. My wife and I have back to back birthdays in August, and therefore the timing. Plus it's easier to do a child free vacation (almost as addictive as Negril itself!) when school is out. I can't remember jellyfish ever being a problem on the beach, or the cliffs. Come to think of it I can't remember even seeing any at all. The off season has its pro's and con's, depending on how you see things. In my opinion, and it's to each his own.....

The PRO's are; Cheaper rates, easier to book favorite rooms/locations, cheaper plane fares, no lines or waiting for seating, more personalized service, more privacy, less noise and easier to nap on the beach, more privacy, more surf to yourselves, I find more specials at bars & restaurants, more privacy, afternoon showers just in time for lunch and a cold one on the porch, and more privacy. It's not that I don't like people, I just like my space.

The CON's are, Some restaurants may be closed (but not many). It's hot as hell, its easy to nap on the beach AND FRY!, vendors are hungry (I know, a poor choice of words) for a sale, not as many concerts or big activities at bars ect, hurricane season, afternoon showers if their timing doesn't meet yours.

As you can see the Pro's far out weight the Con's. Any questions you have just let me know. I usually have my IPad for reading, games and music while on the beach, so can send updates in real time! 51 days, 20 hours & 9 minutes until touchdown!!

Thanks for the great detail! Have never even looked at summer flights, and I kind of thought the beach salesman would be scarce, good to know. Our kids are adults, hence them coming with us for the first time, in their 20's and we are going to hook'em. I think I would love the privacy. Really have my head spinning now.........two trips a year??? Geeze. I'll keep an eye out for your posts in 51 days, 19 hours and......I can't figure out the minutes....but I'll be looking

Two trips in 1 year?!? Don't put any ideas into my head.
With kids in their 20's you can have the best of both worlds. They're old enough to send off to Ricks or Xtabi to jump a little, and you can get some privacy! My kids, while still in their teens, aren't old enough to send off and in turn become tails for 10 days

I'll have done 3 trips this year after Nov rolls around and Negrilitis only gets worse. I was there in May and I thought there were alot less 'vendors' on the beach compared to Feb. I brought my girls last year in Dec and they got hooked (20 something professionals). But it is a different mindset after the end of April... it's really about chilling.. Most nights, I was back in my room by 9-10pm since there isn't alot of night life on the beach. SO as you guys said before.. pros and cons to both seasons...
