Digicel phone - Is it active in USA?

I bought a cheap Digicel on my last trip to Negril. Every once in a while I take it out and power up. So far all it shows is "no signal" .

If you get it unlocked it will work as I described earlier.

I have a digicel coral 180 purchased on 4-21-11 once i left jamaica i no longer had service. I plan to purchase another sim card on my next trip. I like having a local phone because calling home is so cheap.
