    Florida Hurricane Irma

well we gassed up today , all the stores are already out of water but we managed to find some at the gas station. We are preparing for a bad hit. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it does not happen but all the models show that south florida is going to get impacted one way or another. We are in port charlotte close to the coast so we are planning on leaving the area probably Thursday depending on the models. We were suppose to fly out Saturday up to Michigan saturday but most likely ft. myers airport will be closed and we really need to be close by in case our home is damaged badly. I feel so bad for Kathy because she has not seen her mother for almost 2 years and has not seen her since her bad accident. Will probably delay our flight by a couple days and cancel if we take a bad hit. The good thing is that our house heae survived hurricaer charlie fairly well, esp. being the eye was only 2 miles away . We are the only ones in our neighborhood that have flood insurance and out canal out back drains well.Too anyone else reading this from the area we wish you good luck and stay safe

We live in St. Augustine. If it weren't for our dog we'd be going home to Zion Hill on Thursday.

Story sounds the same. Stock up what you can get your hands on. Now the demand is mosquito repellent. Honestly didn't really think of that. but found lots in our "camping box". Just thought id pass that tip on. Stay safe. Went to the story yesterday, stored still out of stuff. Shelves are looking better though. We was in the Keys and Hollywood from July 19-29th. Crazy to see a big hurricane headed just where we was at a month ago

We are staying put also. We just moved here so not sure what to expect. In a hotel inland away from the coast at the moment as our house is 5 minutes from the beach and in the primary evacuation zone on the east coast of south Florida. Our hotel is fully booked for the weekend so others had the same thought as us. Managed to get a load of snacks and non-perishables....and yep, water was hard to come by.

I will be making hurricane preparations here in Chicago this weekend - got a big bottle of Appleton Special ready to go.
